Charities

As medical professionals, we are in the unique position of being able to help our communities and identify where additional support may be needed.  The primary need of some charities is not financial, and we volunteer our time and expertise.

Here is an update of our activities over the past year:

  • As part of our ongoing commitment to Hope Foster Home, Dr Fuong provides medical assistance for children who are sent down from Beijing to HK for surgery. For more details, please go to: www.hopefosterhome.com
  • Dr Fuong is also on the medical board of the Hong Kong based Medart’s China Orphanage Outreach program – www.medart.org.hk/coo.html
  • Each year, Dr Lord organizes that a medical student can have the opportunity to visit China and work in an orphanage to experience providing palliative care with limited resources.
  •  In 2009, we are providing the opportunity for two medical students from Addenbrooks Hospital, Cambridge University to visit Hong Kong and work on selected projects.
  • Dr Borwein continues to sit on the board of two many charitable foundations; including;
    ~ The American Education & Health Foundation – the medical advisory board - this charity provides medical care to rural orphanages in China.
